Appointments

Urgent appointments

To request urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday):

  • use our appointment request form, Monday to Friday.
  • phone us on 01293 574747, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Our phone lines are busiest when we open at 8am. Please be patient as we normally work through this queue within 20 minutes. If you are calling for any reason other than to book for an appointment please call after 10am. There is a call back function if you don’t want to stay on hold whilst waiting, which will keep your place and call you back when you reach the top of the queue.
All patient requests are reviewed by one of our doctors, who decides the appropriate outcome. This could be:

– an appointment with one of our doctors;
– an appointment with another part of our team, such as a physio or a specialist nurse;
– an appointment with the new Pharmacy First scheme for one of seven common conditions. Read more about the Pharmacy First Scheme;
– a quick call or message from the doctor with help and advice.

We will respond to everyone on the same day if we can, but within 48 working hours at the most.

Requests that are truly urgent for medical reasons will be prioritised and responded to first. So will requests for vulnerable patients, very young children or patients with complicated health conditions.

We would like to remind everyone that we are not designed to be an emergency service. Our capacity to see patients on the same day that the appointment is asked for is limited. We will only consider medical reasons for an urgent appointment.

If the doctor who reviews your request wants you to see one of our GPs, we will send you a link via SMS to book an appointment at a time and day you choose, with a doctor you choose, subject to their availability. This can be up to 2 weeks ahead, if you want.
We run an Enhanced Access programme that provides out of hours appointments with a GP, nurse or HCA. Appointments are available Monday to Friday, 5pm to 8pm and Saturdays, 9am – 4pm. This includes face-to-face and remote appointments (except Friday evenings, which are remote only).

These appointments can be requested in the same way usual appointments are requested.
